On My Nails for the Holidays!

Fishnet Stockings
Just in time for the Christmas festivities, I have discovered the perfect red nail color! The brand is Essie and the name of the polish is Fishnet Stockings. Fun, right?!

This picture does not do the color justice!
It's not a fire engine red, but it's not a burgundy either. I think it's a great blending of the two, which equals oxblood red! This color is right on trend and so hot right now, despite the not so pretty name.

You can pick up a bottle at Target, Ulta, and some other places. Runs about $7.

What color are you going to rock on your nails this Christmas season?!

Fit to be Tied

Scarves...I literally have about 30 of them (pretty embarrassed to admit that). I have scarves for the summer, winter and anytime in between. I love them. They are functional and can also change the look of an outfit in an instant. I'm always seeing on Pinterest multiple different ways to tie them. I found this Pin the other day on 40+ ways to tie a scarf. Click HERE to visit the site to learn how.
While you do that, I thought I'd take a second to show you some of the scarves that I'm rocking or wanting to rock. A few good places to look for scarves are H&M, Target and TJ Maxx. I also found this great Etsy shop, RunSystem63, that has fabulous and cool scarves.

Just got this infinity scarf from H&M for $9.95!

I want this Run System63 scarf for Christmas! $60

What should you be looking for??? I recommend a good leopard print one, maybe a fun red one, and a black pashmina that can also be used as a wrap. With cold weather here, now is the perfect time to rock a scarf, and don't be afraid to put a different "twist" on it. Have a great weekend and...

Ride the wave!

This summer, it's all about shades of blue. From light blue to dark blue, there is a color that will work for you. Here's a quick snapshot of the July issue of Glamour to help you get the picture:

The colors are gorgeous and make me want to dive into nearest ocean or pool! A good way to ease into the blue trend is to start using it on your nails or eyes. I have tried the lighter Sally Hansen polish featured in the article, and I am a big fan. The color is called Barracuda, and it's a member of the Complete Salon Manicure line. You can find it at Walmart, Ulta or drugstore, and it retails for around $8.50.
Cargo Swimmables Eye Liners
A fun way to play up the trend is through a pop of blue eyeliner. You can go the turquoise or darker blue route. I found a fabulous pack of four eyeliners by Cargo that I am in love with. There is a purple, turquoise, gold and blue color to play around with. Urban Decay also has a great eyeliners: 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils.

I know that some of these colors can be intimidating, but you can go subtle. One way I wear mine is to put black liner on first, then put the color liner on top of that. The black color helps to tone done things. Also, you can line the top of the eye with color liner not the bottom.

Happy surfing!

It's Spring in My Mind!

Ok, so I'm starting to get Spring fever! Flipping through various beauty magazines is adding fuel to my fire. Featured are gorgeous colors that seem to pop off the page.

One trend that I have read about in several places are melon-colored lips. At first glance, I didn't think a lot of people, including myself, could pull this color off. However, there are many products/brands to choose from, so you can find your right shade, coverage, etc.

What I'm loving right now is N.Y.C.'s (New York Color) Smooch Proof 16 Hour LipStain in "Endless Spice", topped with N.Y.C. Kiss Gloss in "Murray Hill Melon". Each can be worn separately for a softer effect, but I like to layer them for a little more pop of color and staying power.

Another N.Y.C. Kiss Gloss that Allure magazine recommends is "Park Avenue Punch". These fresh colors are guaranteed to put a little "Spring" in your step. Also, the cheap price tag makes trying multiple colors a little less risky for your pocket book. They're available at Walmart and the lip stain retails for around $4.99 and the Kiss Gloss around $3.00.

Nail Color I'm Digging!

So I think I've found one of my go-to nail polish colors for Fall...Sally Hansen's Complete Salon Manicure in Commander In Chic. It's on trend for the season, and the Complete Salon Manicure line has all 5 steps of a salon manicure in 1 bottle: Base Coat, Strengthener, Growth Treatment, Color, Top Coat.

I love the putty gray color. It's not as severe as a dark purple/black polish, and is a great replacement for the Summer/pink polishes. You can get this polish at Walmart and it retails for around $6.50.

What do you think? Would you try this color out? I wanna hear what colors you're rocking this Fall!

Cooler weather...Cooler eyes.

According to the October issue of Lucky magazine, cooler colors on the eyes, paired with warm cheeks are all the rage this season. It's a pretty look that's pretty easy to execute.
Here's how I do it:

1. I cover the entire eye lid and brow bone with Maybelline Expert Wear Eye Shadow Singles in Silver Lining.

2. Next, I take Laura Mercier's Metallic Creme Eye Colour in Alloy and swipe in on my eye lid to the crease.

3. To finish off the look, I dust the area I just coated in Alloy with bareMinerals Eyecolor in Nude Beach. It gives just the right amount of shimmer, which I love. If you don't want as much shine, just skip this step.
